Ha crecido soñando mil grandezas,
llenando espacios, lentos e infinitos,
surcando mares y retando al viento,
con las velas de su vida desplegadas.
Ha crecido soñando mil proezas,
venciendo en las batallas sin esfuerzo,
quemando las etapas de su cuerpo,
sin respetar las normas ni los tiempos.
Como cubre la nieve las montañas,
y el vendaval produce el ventisquero,
ha crecido soñando mil venturas,
las ficciones que imaginan mil senderos.
Y al final de tanto sueño y tanto esfuerzo,
se ha quedado tan solo y tan sin dueño,
que ahora añora los años de su infancia,
con la paz y los lagos de silencio,
sin dolor en la carne, sin violencia,
sin la dura nostalgia de otros tiempos.
El cuerpo se le ha vuelto un amasijo
de carne, de tendones y de huesos;
y un impulso vehemente le atenaza,
como arenas movedizas, en su suelo,
tragándose proyectos y quimeras
y enervando su alma, sin consuelo.
Es la vida que bulle por doquiera,
como un loco corcel, un bruto alado,
picado por el hierro de la espuela.
